Covance’s Harrogate, UK Team "Wears Purple" to Help Child With Cancer

Feb.08, 2012

Last year £500,000 was raised to enable two-year-old Sadie-Rose Clifford from Knaresborough to undergo 8H9 antibody treatment in the United States, helping to improve her chances of survival while battling neuroblastoma. Covance showed amazing support for Sadie raising more than £5000 in 2011 and efforts to help her continue in 2012.

Sadie traveled to New York on Jan. 7, 2012 but just before she was able to start the antibody treatment, new tumors were discovered on her liver and chest cavity. She has therefore needed to start an unexpected course of chemotherapy costing approximately £150,000.

The chemotherapy is expected to continue until March, after which it is hoped that she can begin the antibody treatment for which she originally traveled to the United States. The race is on to replenish this £150,000 deficit by March so that the funds are in place when they are needed.

Sadie's favorite color is purple and Covance's Harrogate site is hosting a “Wear Purple to Work Day” on Wednesday, Feb. 8 to help raise money for this appeal. Campaign Ambassadors will be collecting money on the day, all of which will go directly to the Sadie-Rose Clifford Appeal.
