Make the most of your Food Science, Nutrition Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry or related Life Science degree.

Build a career in our Nutritional Chemistry & Food Safety labs by helping clients formulate, develop and distribute their products to consumers worldwide. You’ll carry out analytical testing for a wide range of foods, supplements and packaging. The tests capitalize on many current industry standard test methods and make sure products comply with regulatory standards. Most testing verifies nutritional labeling, an area of growing importance.

Advances in the way food and dietary supplements are developed, packaged and prepared call for flexibility, innovation and a broad scientific understanding of how those advances affect analytical data. Join Covance to learn from our 70+ years of food analysis experience while doing work that reinforces our reputation for scientific and regulatory expertise.

Join Food & Dietary Supplements.

As part of a full-service laboratory, you’ll analyze food, dietary supplement and biotechnology products for:

  • Nutrients
  • Botanicals
  • Residues
  • Contaminants
  • Raw Material/Ingredients Stability
  • Dietary Supplement
  • Product Container/Enclosure
  • Lipids
  • Dietary Fiber
  • Vitamins
  • Cholesterol
  • Micro vitamin

Clinical/Healthcare
Located in 35+ countries

Make the most of your Clinical, Nursing or related Healthcare degree.

This is your chance to pursue a healthcare career while enjoying the variety that clinical research studies can offer. None of our studies is alike, making each day unique and exciting. You can use your expertise in a fresh, new way in one of the following clinical disciplines.

Clinical Pharmacology.

Here we focus on the safety and welfare of study participants. Phase I studies, the initial human trials, give a preliminary evaluation of drug safety, tolerance and pharmacokinetics. As the drug candidate progresses, we conduct further clinical pharmacology studies – such as drug-drug interaction, food effect, AME (Absorption, Metabolism and Excretion) and special population studies.

Early Clinical Development (ECD).

This is where we carry out smaller, focused Phase Ib/IIa studies quickly and cost effectively. The emphasis is on quality data and quick turnaround, as well as relevant expertise, patient access and diagnostic technologies. Traditionally, ECD studies demonstrate clinical relevance of a novel NME by establishing efficacy. But their goal has expanded. Now studies generate go/no-go criteria by also looking at safety, tolerability, PK/PD profiling and commercial viability.

CDARO (Clinical Data, Analysis, and Reporting Organization).

This group delivers the timely, accurate clinical trial data needed to make sound decisions about the safety, tolerability and pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic properties of a compound. The teams here work with integrated databases, reports and data submissions.

Help assess the safety and viability of new molecular entities. Enter the complex, regulatory-driven world of nonclinical drug development. You’ll focus on identifying the compounds that are most likely to succeed, building a solid scientific foundation that spans all stages of clinical development.

In the process, you’ll work with a wide range of industries conducting safety testing. What’s more, by developing new screening and investigative assays, you’ll speed discovery.

We deliver integrated solutions that bridge Discovery and Development. As well as defining and tackling key drug development questions and enabling clear go/no-go decisions, you’ll reduce cycle times and increase productivity. And your role in managing, interpreting and reporting results for studies will see you combine knowledge of safety, efficacy and translational sciences with technical expertise.

The areas you might work in include:

  • Toxicology
  • Sample Management
  • Dose Formulations
  • Flow Cytometry
  • Molecular and Anatomic Imaging
  • Pathology Services
  • Veterinary Medicine
  • In Vivo Pharmacology

Make the most of your Chemistry, Biochemistry or related Life Science degree.

As one of the world's largest and most comprehensive drug development solutions companies, we have the people, global resources and problem-solving culture to tackle our pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients’ toughest challenges. You can contribute as a member of one of the following teams.

Biotechnology Services.

Highly experienced in regulatory compliance – and complying fully with GLP & cGMP – this department supports clients in pre-clinical safety assessment using a range of analytical techniques and services. We also help clients performing batch release under GMP within Europe and the United States. We work extensively in protein characterization, stability and degradation as well as in virological safety of biopharmaceuticals, molecular biology and cell biology.

Drug Metabolism.

An understanding of absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion characteristics is essential to the pharmaceutical discovery and development process.

Immunochemistry.

Here we use a comprehensive range of techniques and processes to assess critical parameters in the development of biologic therapeutic agents for both preclinical and clinical trials. Common techniques include ELISA, Electrochemiluminescence (ECL), Surface Plasma Resonance and Radioimmunassay (RIA).

Bioanalytical Services.

Bioanalysis focuses on the quantitative measurement of the active drug and/or its metabolite(s). We derive samples from cell culture media or other biological matrices (plasma, serum or urine etc) and use an appropriate bioanalytical technique to take measurements. Selecting the right technique may depend on the molecule’s chemical nature, molecular weight and structure.

cGMP Pharmaceutical Development Services.

Here we support regulatory submission by demonstrating a product's safety, efficacy and purity. The chemistry, manufacturing and controls processes call for flawless analytical data in line with cGMP and other regulatory standards.

Environmental Chemistry.

Here you’ll help determine the fate and effects of chemicals in the environment. We also define the level of consumer/operator exposure to environmental hazards caused by chemicals, or to foods that may contain residues of chemicals or their metabolites. The products we test include agrochemicals, biocides, chemicals (final or intermediates) and veterinary pharmaceuticals.
